Refurbishment And Re-Development
Of Punjabi Inn 201 High Street Blackwood

No. 201, High Street, Blackwood was formally a camera shop & photo-processing laboratory. The building was originally four storeys comprising of a basement A1 Use Class retail unit accessed from the rear public car park; the ground floor retail unit accessed from the High Street and a duplex flat at first and second floors accessed both from the shop and the basement.

In 2010, we were engaged to make a Planning Application for a change of used from an A1 Class retail use to and A3 Class Food use for the ground floor only. The development comprised of a total refit of the ground floor including air conditioning and extractors for the cooking surfaces. In doing so the terms of the policies in the Adopted Local Development Plan which restricted the change of Use Class from an existing A1 Use to an A3 Use within the High Street of Blackwood was satisfied in that the A1 Use Basement shop remained. In effect the property now has a mixed use as an A1 Retail, A3 Food Outlet and a residential flat.

The Client commenced work in 2011 and the licensed restaurant opened for business in December 2011.
