Replacement Control Tower
Royal Welsh Agricultural Society Showground
Llanelwydd

The Royal Welsh Show is one of the major events of the year in the farming calendar, being the largest Agricultural show in Europe.

The Main Arena Control Tower had become too small and required modernisation and refurbishment. The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society decided that it will be more practical to demolish and replace it with a purposed designed new building.

The building itself is situated immediately opposite the Royal Box and faces the grandstand. It forms the hub of communications on show days. Our Company was approached to design the replacement tower, which was granted Planning Permission in the Spring of 2004.

As a charitable trust, the Society relies heavily on sponsorship to fund many of its capital projects. Each year a different County from the Principality hosts the show as Feature County. For the 2007 show the Feature County is Pembrokeshire County who in association with the NatWest Bank co-sponsored the principle costs in constructing the building.

Having sponsored the design of the Tower, GAP Architectural & Engineering Design Services were commissioned by The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society to act as Planning Supervisors and Project Managers for the construction phase of this project. Create Control Ltd was appointed as Principal Contractors and works commenced on the demolition of the old Tower in December 2006, with the new Tower being constructed and fully operational for the Summer Show 23rd to 26th July 2007.
